8th Grade High School Information

Borel School Registration Presentation 2024-2025

IMPORTANT ENROLLMENT DATES FOR SMUHSD:

  • Priority window opened on November 4th.
  • Intra-district transfer requests are accepted only during the Priority 1 Enrollment window.
  • Intra-district Lottery will be pulled in February 2025

  • Families may contact the Office of Student Services at San Mateo Union High School District with specific individual questions in order to register for high school by phone at (650) 558-2251 or by email at enrollment@smuhsd.org.  

  • The SMUHSD is providing in person help with the enrollment process at the district office (650 N. Delaware Street, San Mateo) on Jan. 23rd from 4pm to 7pm and Jan. 29th from 4pm to 7pm. 

Parent / Guardian Info Night for Students who receive Special Education Services:

San Mateo Union High School District extends a welcome to parents of incoming students with IEPs on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.

Attention 8th Grade Students Attending Aragon High School:

Aragon High School will be holding an Incoming Family Information Night on March 13th at 6pm. They welcome all 8th grade students and their families to hear more about attending Aragon in the fall.  Translation will be available for any Spanish Speaking families on the campus in Room 213.  

Students attending Aragon in the Fall who are interested in the Accelerated Math Pathway, and who are currently in an accelerated class for 8th grade can take the Math Inventory Placement Exam at the following times:

March 12th @Burlingame H.S. 3:30pm-5:30pm

March 15th @Aragon H.S. 9:00am-11:00am

Students attending Aragon in the Fall who are interested in possibly accelerating in their language class can take a placement exam @Aragon on March 19 4pm-6pm.

Attention 8th Grade Students Attending San Mateo High School in the Fall:

San Mateo High School will be holding an Open House on March 13th 6:30pm to 8:00pm. They will also be holding an International Food Fair in the SMHS Cafeteria from 5:30pm to 8:00pm.

Programming of classes for the fall will be held at SMHS on March 19th and March 20th.  Students must turn in their programming form in person or online by March 21st.  

Student attending Hillsdale High School in the Fall:

There are two dates left for programming your classes.  

March 19th 4:30pm to 5:30pm

March 19th 6:00pm to 7:00pm

All 8th Grade Students should reach out to Ms. Wharton for any questions and/or concerns.

-Wednesday, June 4th: 8th Grade Awards Night, 5:00 - 7:00

-Friday, June 6th: Promotion Practice at Borel, 8:30-10:30AM 

-Monday, June 9th: Great America Field Trip, 9:00 - 5:30PM

-Tuesday, June 10th: 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony, 10:30 at San Mateo Performing Arts Center / 6:00 Dance at Borel

***Students arrive at 8:20am at San Mateo High School for promotion practice before the ceremony

-Wednesday, June 11th: Last Day of School, Minimum Day
