
8th Grade Information
Important End of the Year Dates For Planning Purposes
Friday, April 17 - All 8th grade students receive End of the Year packets in advisory
Friday, April 24 - 8th Grade Assembly to review End of the Year information
Wednesday, May 13 - 5:30-7:00PM OPEN HOUSE (Counselors will be available to help with Great America financial aid)
Friday, May 15 - Turn in date for permission forms/payment for Great America. Financial aid/scholarships are available.
Friday, May 22 - Last Day to Turn in Library books. Students will receive notices of overdue books to their advisory.
Wednesday, June 3 & Thursday June 4 - 8th grade students turn in their Social Studies textbooks, chromebooks, chargers, hotspots, hotspot chargers through the library. Instruments should be returned to the music teacher. Please note if students have outstanding materials we will hold their certificate and/or yearbook until materials are returned/fines paid.
Wednesday, June 3, 5:00-7:00 PM - 8th Grade Scholarship & Awards Night in the Borel New Gym. If your student is receiving an award, you will receive an invitation prior to the event.
Friday, June 5th - Morning Promotion Practice at Borel. Students will receive their gowns and promotion tickets through advisory after practice.
Monday, June 8 - 8th Grade Field Trip to Great America. Students arrive at school at normal time, but do not come back to Borel until around 5:30 p.m.
Tuesday, June 9 - PROMOTION CEREMONY at 10:30AM at the San Mateo Performing Arts Center (SMPAC) located at 600 N. Delaware Street, San Mateo. Students report directly to SMPAC at 8:20AM in their gowns without phones, purses or bags. Doors open for families at 10AM. NO Balloons allowed in the theatre.
Tuesday, June 9 - PTA sponsored Dance for Borel 8th Grade Students only, from 5:30-8:30 PM at Borel’s Barneson Gym.
Wednesday, June 10 - Last day of school, 1-7 schedule, 12:39 pm dismissal.
